Genre Research: Teen Wolf



    This film I did for research is the 1985 “Teen Wolf”. This film is about a very average high school student that longs for the most popular girl at the school and is on the basketball team that is the most losing team in the area. He of course finds out he is a werewolf and uses his new superpowers to dominate his basketball competition and grow his popularity, all while furry. Once again, I could not find the first two minutes but instead, I chose a clip of Scott Howard, teen wolf, Transforming mid game for the first time and dunking. There are a lot of mid shots and only a few wide shots with the werewolf in his entirely. The editing is very choppy, most noticeably is when the wolf takes off to dunk.  The shot reverse shot is also highly used to see the reactions of different people in the crowd or teammates in close ups. It is so fake its fun almost. Overall, it has the requisite amount of 1980’s camp to make it fun. So much so it took its $1.2 million and made $80 million. This movie is incredibly memorable and I think its essential to analyze how a monster would react in high school.

Creative Critical Reflection #3

The production skills I had were very limited in the beginning of the filming. i had these grand ideas with my partner on how what he wanted to see from our film but had little to no idea how to get there. This is mostly things we would learn as we filmed but getting the filming scheduled proved to be very difficult given our busy lives. When we did find the time however, We learned a lot about how to put the test photos we took into actual video to shoot. Directing was more of a touch and go of looking and seeing what was working and wasn't for a particular shot. For example, A very directed shot was actually the cut with the ketchup we used in place of blood. My reaction might have been delayed so re shot to get a more realist time for pain response. That scene also had my partner acting as Svetlana. Critical Creative Reflection #4

The tech we used for filming was an iPhone 6S so there was no stunning graphics for the playback for the video but it was serviceable for what we wanted from the film. The Film was then edited on iMovie and there it underwent cuts, playback speed changes and the addition of a song.
