Use of Conventions

    The film we made challenges a lot of conventions present with the presentation of your typical Hollywood Vampire. Svetlana, our vampire, demonstrates the usual vampire ills as she avoids an Italian restaurant and liberally applies sunscreen as the sun goes down. The Italian restaurant is sure to have garlic, a Hollywood vampire repellent. The aversion to the sun is self-explanatory. However, the film challenges the appearances of vampires with Svetlana. She is blonde and tan which differs from the snow pale skin and jet black hair from Hollywood. The biggest convention change is how Svetlana is afraid of blood and so much so that she faints which entirely breaks convention of a vampire.
