Distribution Research #1 - What We Do In The Shadows


This picture is a wonderful example of a smaller film being distributed during a seasonal time. Its release date was October 30th, 2014, once day before Halloween. Its distributor was "Mad Man Entertainment", company based in New Zealand. Regional releases of this film were handled by different distributors after the film reached critical acclaim, the most notable includes paramount pictures for limited U.S. releases. The film grossed $6.9 million dollars due to this release style. The distribution of this film for DVD release was handled by Weltkino Filmverleih, a german distribution company. the film is now available to view on YouTube Movies, Hulu, Amazon, Vudu, iTunes, and Google Play.

Revision #3

This is more of a technical revision based off of the major cuts to the film but the music had to be reworked. Due to the shorter run time we edited the music in two ways: began it post beginning of the song that way the words "Man-eater" during the time we needed the music for. We made it so the music ends at the title screen so its cleaner.

Critical Creative Reflection #4

The tech we used for filming was an iPhone 6S so there was no stunning graphics for the playback for the video but it was serviceable for what we wanted from the film. The Film was then edited on iMovie and there it underwent cuts, playback speed changes and the addition of a song.
